Faces In The Dark

They hide their existence and try not to show their plight,
They try to forget their experience by withdrawing into the night.
They feel uncomfortable in public and sad when they're alone,
They feel miserable over their failures
which they believe were no one's fault but their own.
They feel it is an effort to get up in the morning; at night they can't fall asleep.
They don't know if it's worth it to go on living, but they fear that final leap.
You may have seen them in the market or you might have passed them in the park.
Try to have empathy for them--the faces in the dark.
In the dark, you can remain unseen; no one will ever know how you're feeling.
In the dark, it doesn't matter where you've been; no one can tell where you're going.
To have no understanding for the sadness in their heart
Is to be blind to the faces in the dark.
